 Know all about the BPSC Exam

BPSC (Bihar Public service commissions) is a commission, established under Article 320 and 321 of the Indian Constitution to conduct competitive examinations for various higher posts in Bihar.

The function of the Bihar Public Service Commission: -

  • Recruitment for various administrative services of state government through competitive exams or interviews.
  • Advising the State  Government on the suitability of officials on the promotion along with promotion as well as on the transfer of services from one service to another.
  • Advising the State Government on matters relating to recruitment, recruitment rules and modifications on various services and posts.
  • Advising the State Government in all disciplinary matters related to various civil services.
  • Advising the State Government on any matter referred to the Commission by the Governor of Bihar.

Recruitment process:-

BPSC recruits two processes -

1. Direct recruitment - Direct recruitment is done primarily by conducting competitive exams, in which examinations like civil services, judicial services, engineering services are arranged.

2. Promotional -  As per the rules prescribed by the State Government, promotions to Civil Servants are promoted through the Departmental Promotions Committee (under the chairmanship of the Commission).

Selection Process for Direct Recruitment -

 Eligibility for Appearing in the Exam -

You must have a Graduate or its Equivalent degree in any subject for the Civil Services Examination.         

Age of Candidates - 

The minimum age for joining the Civil Services Exam is 18 years and a maximum of 35 years, but OBC, SC, ST, Female, and employees of the Bihar Government are exempted from 3 to 7 years in the maximum age limit.

How to apply

Forms of all exams managed by BPSC are online. When the notification of the Civil Services Examination is issued by BPSC, you can apply by going to the Commission's bpsc online portal.

To get selected government jobs in the Civil Services Competition Examination conducted by BPSC, you have to go through three steps, which is as follows -

     *  Preliminary Examination (P. T)

      * Main (written) examination

      * Interview

Preliminary Examination (PT) -  

The examination of PT is only a test examination, after which you are involved in the main exam.

One paper examination takes place in which 150 objective questions are asked about general studies. You must correct at least 100 questions to pass this examination. This is not a fixed limit Cut-off can be less or even more.

In this part, the following areas of general studies related questions-
  • general Science- 10th level physics, chemistry, and Biology
  • Current events of national and international importance,
  • History-The history of India and the main features of Bihar's history.
  • General Geography - Characteristics of major geographical areas of India and general geography of Bihar, Bihar
  • Polity system - State and state system of Bihar and India
  • Economy - Economy of Bihar and India
  • Maths & Reasoning - this section has 10-15 questions.

Main (written) examination

After passing the PT exam, you join the main examination, where you have written examination of many papers, whose question papers are available in both Hindi and English languages. The committee examines your writing ability and understanding of subject matter in the main examination. In this written examination, you are examining the following topics, which are as follows:

A compulsory subject for the main exam

  • General Hind - 100 numbers, time 3 hours
  • General study-paper-1- 300numbers, time 3 hours
  • General study-paper-2- 300 numbers time 3 hours
  • Optional Subject-one paper 300 points, time 3 hours - Only one of the following 37 topics is subject to your wishes.

Interview

This is the final phase of CS Exam by Bihar public service commission, in which the successful candidate is the personality test of 120 marks in the main examination.

After this, Merit list of candidates is prepared based on the 900 marks of the main examination and 120 marks of the interview, 1020 Marks total. In this, marks of PT EXAM are not added.

 After this, the Commission reserves the right to choose successful candidates for any service or post from the following posts for which the candidate has expressed the desire or for which the commission considers it eligible.
