BPSC (Bihar Public Service Commission) also organizes the Civil Services Examination in many stages. But, the syllabus of Bpsc is unique in comparison to other states. BPSC conducts Civil Services Examination in three stages, in the form of Preliminary Examination (PT), Main Examination and Interview respectively. Which information is detailed below.

BPSC Prelim Examination 

 

This is the first phase examination which is generally known as a PT exam. This is just a screening test. The score obtained in the PT exam does not contribute to the final selection.


But it is compulsory to pass this examination. For this examination two hours are determined, in which 150 Objective type questions (MCQ) related to general studies are asked. In 68th BPSC Civil services exam 2023 has included ¼ Negative marking to make fresh and fair results. To pass this examination, the minimum cut-off category wise is variable, but your result is on the cut-off determined by the Commission.

Which section asks questions in the PT exam? 


In the PT exam conducted by the Bpsc, questions are asked from various sections of General Studies. There is no fixed number of questions asked in each section if there are more questions than a section, few questions are asked less than a section. BPSC Mains Examination 


After passing the preliminary exam, you have an opportunity to appear in the main exam. This second phase examination will be of 1000 marks. This examination included five papers as a descriptive type written examination. For each paper, the time of 3 hours has been determined. 


The first paper will be Hindi. It is compulsory to get pass marks in this paper. 100 points are fixed for Hindi, in which you have to need a minimum of 30% Marks to pass. Marks of this paper are not included to make your merit. 


The second paper is GS-I. It is of 300 marks, for which there is a time of three hours fixed. This paper contains questions for general studies. 


The third paper is GS-II. It is for 300 marks, it is also scheduled for 3 hours. In this paper, general questions are asked and statistical questions are asked. 


The fourth paper is essay writing which has been included recently. It will be for 300 marks and scheduled time for 3 hours. In this paper you have to write an essay on anyone topic from the given five.


The fifth paper is an optional paper, which is to be selected according to its interest, from 34 subjects. Subjects list given below or you can visit below Bpsc syllabus link)  as determined by Bpsc. It will be  100 Multiple choice questions  for 100 marks and three hours. It will also a qualifying paper minimum cut-off category wise variable and marsk will not be included in mains exam merit.

In this way, mainly on the basis of scores in 2nd, 3rd and 4th Papers (900 marks), students receiving more numbers are selected for an interview. 


Interview or Personality test 


According to the exam pattern, the interview is the last phase of the Bpsc civil service exam. Candidates selected in the main examination are called for an interview. The objective of this examination is to examine the personality test and skill of the candidates. There are 120 Marks for this. Your documents verification and medical tests are done on the same day before the interview begins.


Note - The medium of examination is both Hindi and English. You can choose according to your choice.

Thus, students have completed the BPSC civil service exam in three steps. The final selection of candidates is based on the score of the last two phases. On the basis of his marks, the candidates are selected on the anyone posts by determining the rank. Candidates have an opportunity to select their posts, but the last decision depends on the Commission according to your ranking.
