Tiger Reserves in India are governed by Project Tiger. Project Tiger is one of the most popular planning to save tigers. Project Tiger started in 1973 with the help of the Central Government. Nine projects were started at that time in which Jim Corbett National Park was the first Tiger Reserve of India.

Project Tiger is administered by the NTCA(National Tigers Conservation Authority). Approximately 70 % of tigers found in India all over the world.
 
There are 53 Tiger Reserves in India in which 3169 Tigers are secured until 2022. The number of Tigers have been increased due to Project Tiger. If you saw the report of the NTCA then you can understand it easily. In 2006 the total number of tigers is 1411, in 2010- 1706, 2014- 2226 and  2018 - 2967 Tigers are available in India. According to the 5th cycle of Tiger census of India the number of tigers are again increase in 2022. Now the country has 3167 tigers safely living in the tiger reserves of India.

In February 2021 It was announced as the 51th tiger reserve of India. It has also become the 5th Tiger Reserve of Tamilnadu. It was formed by combining two wildlife sanctuaries 1. Srivilliputhur Grizzled squirrel and 2. Megamalai wildlife sanctuary.


52. Ramgarh Vishdhari wildlife sanctuary which is situated in Rajasthan is 52nd tiger reserve of India. It will also be the 4th of Rajasthan.


53. Guru Ghasi Das National Park


Guru Ghasi Das National Park is anaunced as a 53rd Tiger Reserve of India in February 2021. Ghasi Das Park is situated in Chhattisgarh.

What is Tiger Reserve?
Tiger Reserves are a special ideal place where tiger populations Conserved in their natural habitats. A Tiger Reserve divided into Core and Buffer areas. 
Tigers are important for our Ecosystem because it's balancing other wild animals. Urbanization, Deforestation, and smuggling, etc led to a decrease in the numbers of tigers. But with the help of the India wildlife protection act 1972, the Project Tiger scheme was launched in 1973. And there is an attempt to protect them. Tiger Reserves in India is also famous for tourism. There are many tourists visiting every year.
